Women’s Sport is Having a Media Moment

Women’s sport is having a moment. In the UK, the Women’s FA Cup Final between Man Utd and Spurs was attended by 76,082 fans on Sunday (including me). That’s just shy of the record-breaking 77,390 who went to Wembley last season. Today, Arsenal Women announced that they will use the club’s main Emirates Stadium as their base from next season. A huge move, but perhaps not a surprising one given they keep selling it out.

Over in the US, basketball player Caitlin Clark is a phenomenon. She has gone from college to being the number one pick in the WNBA draft, becoming one of the most discussed athletes in the country in the process.

This is all reflected in good media coverage too. Most of the time.
