Ted Lasso Season 4: Apple TV+ Hit Show Looks Set for a Return

It looks like Ted Lasso Season 4 could be on the cards, with AFC Richmond returning to our screen in the not-too-distant future. Some of the key figures involved in the Apple TV+ hit show have done deals, hinting at more episodes to come.

According to a report from Deadline, Hannah Waddingham, (who plays Rebecca Walton,) Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) are all signed up. UK acting union Equity facilitated the deal. SAG-AFTRA, the American union, will have to fulfil this role to get the likes of Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) to sign up.

Furthermore, Jason Sudeikis will also have to agree terms. He co-created and plays the headline character as well as exec producing and being a writer on the show. He reportedly is supportive. The studio would not have proceeded without his consent,” according to that piece.

We Don’t Need Ted Lasso Season 4

As revealed in the next episode of TV+ Talk (out this week,) I am not convinced of the need for Ted Lasso: Season 4. The show originally had a three-season arc. I was the first (I think!) journalist to report that after interviewing co-creator Bill Lawrence. It was brave of Apple TV+ to pull its most popular show after just three seasons. However, it meant it ended on something of a high. Starting again is a huge risk.

Now, all of that does not mean there cannot be spinoffs, one-offs or even movies. I think any of those could be rather enjoyable if done well. However, Apple and Warner Bros need to protect their asset not overuse it. Let’s see if the streamer, studio and actors can resist, or if we get Ted Lasso season 4.
