“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” Smashes Disney+ Record. Obviously.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour

Taylor Swift film “The Eras Tour” has smashed Disney+ records. It is now the most-watched music movie on the platform

I don’t know about you, but I’m not at all surprised. I’m no Swiftie, but I think she is a genius for the entertainment juggernaut she has built.

Per Variety:

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)” had 4.6 million views on Disney+ in its first three days of release — making it the No. 1 music film ever on the platform, according to the company. Swifties watched 16.2 million hours of the blockbuster three-and-a-half-hour concert film on Disney+ over this past weekend. Disney+ defines a “view” as total stream time divided by runtime.

It is not like we needed further confirmation that Taylor Swift is a money-making machine, but here we go. I think there are very few artists operating at the moment that could put a tour movie on a streaming service and bring in those kinds of numbers. Beyonce would probably be close, but that is about it. Indeed, the former Destiny’s Child singer does already have a movie on Disney+.
