Despite having to cover the lives of other people, journalism is a rather introspective industry. Journalists love talking about journalism. I write this newsletter, for goodness sake! But there is something unique about films about journalists and journalism – the tone they tend to take and the mystique that they build around our industry.
I’m sure readers could rattle off a list of fiction and documentary films, good and bad, about the media and its players. We’re soon going to have another one to add. “Rather” is a documentary about American newsman Dan Rather. Variety reported that it has been acquired by Netflix.
