Fair to say that LIV golf caused quite the commotion when it first arrived. Its Saudi backers threw frankly insane amounts of money around to get the biggest names in the game involved. It sort of worked, but the LIV never quite grabbed the following of the other tours, never mind the majors. Some of this was because, quite frankly, it wasn’t that easy to watch. Some of the best in the business disappeared onto DAZN. Now, TNT Sports are taking a swing and will show LIV Golf in the UK and Ireland. It comes as the tour adds a fourth day to its competitions, bringing it in line with the PGA
The deal, announced last month, will make it slightly easier for golf fans to watch – more people have TNT Sports/Discovery+ than DAZN. I’m not sure it makes up for some of the things TNT Sports is set to lose, namely the Champions League next year. Furthermore, is backing something paid for with Saudi money a good look for TNT and parent company Warner Bros. Discovery? Probably not, but perhaps we’re past the point of that being an issue, and people just want to watch Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Phil Mickelson et al.
