Roman Kemp has signed for Sky Sports and will launch a new show ahead of the Premier League kicking-off on Friday, 15 August. The Premier League Show is to air Monday-Thursday between 5pm and 7pm. Julian Warren and Emma Paton will share hosting duties on those day. Kemp leads Premier League Friday.
The show is launching with Kemp ahead of Liverpool v Bournemouth, the first game of the campaign. Sky Sports is going to have at least 215 live Premier League games this season and is clearly determined to get as much out of it as it can. Each episode of The Premier League Show will feature a dedicated reporter and pundit alongside the host. Roman Kemp, who formerly presented Capital Breakfast on the radio said:
Football means more to me than anything. To be a part of a show like this building up to the biggest games in world football is a real privilege. I can’t wait to get going and as a fan, do this show justice.
This feels like a rather American approach to me, an attempt to replicate shows like First Take. No doubt, Sky Sport will be hoping some of the clips generate debate and go viral across social media.
Meanwhile, TNT Sports has won the rights to show the Ashes this winter. They usually show the series Down Under, while Sky hosts the clashes in the UK.
