Evan Gershkovich Has Been in a Russian Prison for 100 Days

Today marks 100 days since Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich was imprisoned in Russia on espionage charges. He, his publication and the US all today the charges. He was doing his job and the accusations are bogus.

You can hear WSJ editor Emma Tuckers discuss her reporter’s detention on the BBC’s “Media Show”. Crucially, friends, family and colleagues are desperate to keep Gershkovich in peoples’ minds. In a video interview, his mother admits she has no hope for his release. Tucker also spoke about a prisoner release post-conviction.

Gershkovich has only been seen when he appeared in court. He is, however, said to be in good health and seeing lawyers. He has also been visited by the US Ambassador. It is a desperate situation and one designed to intimate reporters in Russia.
