Apple TV+ Business Boss Departs in Shake-Up of Services Leadership

Apple TV+ MLS season pass

There has been a shake-up of the top executives overseeing Apple’s services offering. Peter Stern, who was vice president of services, has left the company, Insider revealed on Monday. He was responsible for building the business operations of Apple TV+ as well as other services such as News+ and Fitness+.

According to AppleInsider, Mr Stern had helped build Apple TV+’s growing sports offering. The growth in live sport on the service is one of the reasons why 2023 could be a big year for Apple TV+, as outlined in yesterday’s The Addition newsletter. This expansion includes a decade-long deal with Major League Soccer. A season pass to watch every game will become available to purchase on February 1.

Mr Stern had been at Apple for six years and reported directly to senior vice president of services Eddy Cue. It is understood his responsibilities will now be divided between two other executives. These are head of Apple Music Oliver Schusser and Vice President Apple Product Services and Design, Robert Kondrk.

Apple is increasingly focussed on increasing the revenue generated by its portfolio of services. The Apple One set of services bundles recently increased in price as did individual services, including Apple TV+.
