This week, John Stewart hosted Lina Khan, chair of the FTC on “The Daily Show”. During a somewhat sycophantic interview, the host explained how Apple vetoed the same conversation when he was making a show for Apple TV+. He also said that the company didn’t want him to do a segment on AI.
We knew all this already. It had been reported and Stewart had mentioned it when he first returned behind the desk. Still, hearing him lay it out so explicitly was quite something. And it revealed the culture clash that occurs when tech firms move into media production.
