US and UK Strike Houthi Targets – House of Comments Podcast

air craft during day time

As some people will know, I co-host the “House of Comments” podcast with Emma Burnell. Every Friday, we discuss British politics and sometimes politics from the US and elsewhere. You can listen on AudioBoom or wherever you usually get your podcasts. In the hours before we recorded the latest episode, US and UK forces hit 16 targets in Yemen in response to Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

The strikes were the first time prime minister Rishi Sunak has sanctioned military action. He will address the House of Commons tomorrow. Some opposition politicians, including the Lib Dems, argue Parliament should already have been recalled.

Funnily enough, the Lib Dems have not been so keen on Parliament being recalled over the fallout from the Post Office scandal. Leader Sir Ed Davey’s time as Post Office minister is under ongoing scrutiny. Co-hosts Charlotte Henry and Emma Burnell discuss how that could continue in a General Election campaign later this year.
